Laura McKinley Showing Holiday Spirit The place where I saw the most holiday spirit this year was at my church when I helped out with wrapping presents for Feed the Needy. There were about twenty people who gathered in the church and took the time out from their busy lives to wrap presents for unfortunate families who were having money problems and could not afford their own presents for their children. We got presents for poor children from infants up to the age of sixteen. We started off by unpacking trash bags full of toys such as soccer balls, board games, baby dolls, stuffed animals, and a lot more. Then we would separate each toy into age group piles so we would know what age child would receive that specific toy. Finally, we worked together to carefully wrap each of the presents one by one for all to enjoy when we would deliver them to the families. By the end of the night we had wrapped over one hundred presents to share with less fortunate families to enjoy on Christmas day. Besides feeling great about being able to help others we also had fun. We talked and were all in the cheerful holiday spirit. People even bought or baked treats such as cookies to bring for all of the volunteers. We all had a great time knowing that we made it so that the unfortunate kids and their families would have the best Christmas possible. This act of kindness really shows the most holiday spirit. |
